For beginners, Serif PhotoPlus SE Photo Editor is a great alternative to other programs such as PhotoShop, Gimp, or PhotoScape. This makes it ideal for students, families and anyone else may not want to pay the high cost of professional grade software. PhotoPlus' interface is virtually the same as PhotoShop, making it easy for the user to make the transition in either direction. Although it doesn't offer as many tools or options as some other photo editing programs, it does offer the ability to upgrade to a premium version, should you decide you need a more profession editing program. With a variety of filters and multiple layers you can create many different types of images, and have fun doing it.
